Unlike what most people in Europe might think, getting your drivers license in Rwanda is quite hard….and apparently very amusing for spectators…
Spectators? Yes ….
We wanted to go to the radio, but as we wanted to turn into their street we saw a lot of people shouting, laughing, applauding, staring…we had no idea what was happing…maybe some celebration? Market? A fight? And then we saw…people doing their drivers license exam…

So how does this work…apparently one or two times by trimester people can try to pass their driving test. So everybody who has to do the test has to go to the place where they’re going to hold the test. They don’t have an exact time of when it’s going to be your turn. And sometimes you even have to come back the next day. So everybody watches the others doing their manoeuvres. Laughing when something goes wrong, but also applauding when they succeed. It really seems like a big event!
Yes, I’ll rather pass my driving test in Belgium…. :)
