Katrijns birthday + miss ladyboy '09

It’s Katrijns birthday, so that means…relaxing day! We wanted to give her a nice breakfast on bed, so we got up very early to prepare everything…but no-one can beat Katrijn. She always the last to go to bed and the first to get up…so mission breakfast in bed failed. Well then just a nice breakfast on table. We enjoyed it a lot!

Anyways after the breakfast, time for some real relaxing…so we went to a beauty center. This is very common here. Lots of people go here especially for the pedicure and manicure…and you don’t only see women here. Also men are taking care of their feet and hands and polish them. :) The place we went to was pink…very pink…pink lamps, pink chairs, pink curtains,… even their costume is pink!

We got the whole package: body scrub, body massage, facial spa, pedicure and manicure.(only €15) Yes a full 5 hours we were inside and we enjoyed every minute! :)



After the 5hour relaxing and beauty treatment, we were invited to a miss ladyboy-election! Another Dutch girl here is doing research on ladyboys. This is a remarkable phenomenon here and you see these ladyboys everywhere. Ladyboys are (as the word says it) “boys/men” who look like, feel like, are “ladies”. They don’t see themselves as gay, as they are not men, but women. So a ladyboy is still something different from a gay. Yes quite confusing. Anyways you see them here daily, and probably we see them really a lot more then we think…you just don’t see it anymore. Man or women? No difference here!

Anyways the miss election we attended here looks a lot like the ones we know in Belgium. It also exists out of several rounds: costume, answering questions, bikini, talent (drawing, dancing,…) and evening gown. The ladyboys are showing their best moves and have great looking bodies, sometimes it’s really hard to see that those girls are actually boys…(physically spoken). Really fascinating and the crowd was going wild!
