No to ConAss - no to ChaCha

Belgium has its political problems, but also the Philippines has their share. The Philippines are known for the wonderful rice terraces, beautiful white sand beaches and…corruption. And yes the current President has done her part in preserving this name. Luckily her 6year-term has almost come to an end. And a President can only be President for one term. Next year (2010) there are elections, so everybody is happy that Gloria’s era is ending and that she might finally pay for all the venal practices she’s been part of. But she is looking for a way to secure her future…a few weeks ago the counselors approved that a Constitutional Assembly (ConAss) will be held…this means an assembly with the purpose to change the charter (ChaCha)…(remember Chavez…changing charter…). What will be changed exactly is not clear..and this is even more worrying…

Anyways everyday there are protest, rallies,…and of course also CPaG (together with some other organizations) organized a little rally and later on also the youth of the socialist party had their rally. Standing along the street, shouting, making people aware of the problem..trying to mobilize people. There was also a Mass held (remember…very religious country), where the priest spoke his mind about the ChaCha…

The country is reacting…let’s hope that Gloria doesn’t get away with this one…
